50 Cent Discovers Family Roots on VH1 Show

The rap star traces his ancestry to a South Carolina town in new documentary.

Through four albums and the 2005 biopic “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has given fans a very candid account of his life story. Now the hip hop mogul wants to share some more in an upcoming VH1 documentary “The Origin of Me.”

In the doc, the Queens MC travels to Edgefield County, South Carolina, to come face to face with the descendants of the men who enslaved his family members before they moved to New York in the 1950s.

According to the network, Edgefield was once one of the most violent counties in the South and 50's journey to the home of his ancestors "will show the world a very different side of 50 Cent."

The show debuts May 23 at 9 P.M. EST on VH1.
