Lil Wayne's New Carter IV Single Nears Release
Lil Wayne is calling in the reinforcements. As previously reported, the Young Money general, pushed the due date of his highly anticipated Tha Carter IV to June in order to fine-tune a few things. Apparently one of those things is a single with superproducer Jim Jonsin.
The Jonsin-produced “Lollipop” off the Grammy Award–winning Tha Carter III was Weezy’s most commercially successful single to date, and it seems Wayne is looking to repeat that formula.
Jonsin went on record with rap-up.com to talk about the upcoming single.
“It’s got similarities to ‘Lollipop,’” Jonson said in the interview. “It’s just a little slower, and it has similar sounds in it, so people may relate it to the step-brother of ‘Lollipop.’ It also [got] completely different melodies and chords.”
As of now the track is still unfinished. Pitbull (who helped write the song) is on the record but may not be on the final version. Tentative titles for the single include “Blows My Brains” or “She’s Always in My Head.”
Tha Carter IV is expected to drop June 21.
