Rihanna's Unapologetic Goes Platinum
Add another platinum plaque to Rihanna's scoreboard. When she's not co-signing lipstick, deading Twitter beef, or posting sexy flicks on Instagram, Ri Ri's busy making hits.
The singer has officially nabbed her sixth consecutive platinum album with Unapologetic.
Released last November, the album was her first No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and most recently sold an additional 9,000 copies (for the week ending May 26). Despite those sales being a 17 percent drop from the previous week, figures were enough to push her to just over a million, making it her fastest-selling release to date and beating out 2011's Talk That Talk.
Unapologetic has produced hit singles "Diamonds," "Loveeeeeee Song" featuring Future, "Stay" featuring Mikky Ekko and "Pour It Up," which now has a remix featuring "King of the Two-Liners" 2 Chainz).
On Wednesday (May 29) Ri revealed the cover for her next single, "Right Now," featuring DJ sensation David Guetta.
With this latest milestone and with the exception of 2005's Music of the Sun, all of the 25-year-old's albums have sold at least a million copies. Her most successful release to date, 2007's Good Girl Gone Bad, marked a turning point in Rihanna's style and artistic evolution, selling 2.8 million copies.
In total, she's sold 9.8 million albums and in 2012 was crowned the top-selling digital artist of all time with nearly 50 million digital downloads.
