Michael Showers, who had a reoccuring role as Capt. John Guidry on the popular HBO series Treme, was found dead yesterday in Louisiana, CNN reports.  According to a Port of New Orleans official, his body was discovered in the Mississippi River near St. Louis Street in New Orleans.  Harbor police said the body has been given to the coroner for an investigation. 
The creator of the series, David Simon, said in a statement: "We enjoyed his work—and working with him. Going forward, we're going to miss having him as part of our production. All of which seems of little import in light of the loss of a man's whole life, and what that loss truly means to him, his family, his friends. Our respect and condolences go to them, especially."
Michael Showers also had small roles in The Tree of Life, 2009's I Love You Phillip Morris and 2008's Soul Men.
