50 Cent's nightclub drama has found a home in the Starz network. The cable channel ordered a full-season helping of Power, one of at least four new scripted series expected to debut this year.
"We are thrilled to add Power to our growing original programming lineup for 2014," said Starz CEO Chris Albrecht. "Curtis [50 Cent] has a unique and specific vision for the series, lending it an authenticity and voice rarely seen."
The Queens emcee serves as executive producer, teaming with Mark Canton, Randall Emmett and Courtney Kemp Agboh, whose credits include 300, End of Watch and The Good Wife, respectively. "This is a passion project for me and I couldn't be more thrilled to have a home in Starz," 50 said in a statement. "I look forward to working with this incredibly talented team on making Power a hit show."
Canton, Emmett and 50 previously worked together on Escape Plan, in which he starred, and Frozen Ground, where the 37-year-old was both actor and producer.
Power is based on James "Ghost" St. Patrick, a wealthy New York City club owner living a double life. St. Patrick wants to focus on his business but remains planted in his side job as a drug kingpin, and has to face the consequences — and the dangers — of mixing the two worlds.
