One of Bishop Eddie Long’s Four Accusers is Arrested

On Tuesday, Jamal Parris, one of Bishop Eddie Long’s accusers of sexual harassment, was arrested for possession of marijuana and a gun.

Jamal Parris, one of Bishop Eddie Long’s four accusers of sexual harassment, was arrested Tuesday in Miami Beach, Florida, for possession of marijuana and a gun.

A Florida Highway Patrol police officer had noticed that the white 2011 BMW Parris was driving had no license plates. On approaching the car, after he pulled it over, Sgt. Seth Dubinsky smelled marijuana.

A search of the vehicle, and Parris, uncovered 181 grams of marijuana, worth about $1,000, 50 clear plastic baggies, $1,250 in cash and a Taurus semiautomatic handgun.

Parris was charged with two felony counts: possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm while committing a felony. He also was charged with operating a motor vehicle with no registration, a misdemeanor.

Twenty-year-old Jeremy Jouvanni Gordon, a passenger in the car, was arrested on a drug paraphernalia charge, and the vehicle was seized.

Parris, along with three other young men, had sued Bishop Long, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church of Lithonia, and the Longfellows Youth Academy. The quartet said that the Long had pressured them into sexual relations after providing them with gift, jobs, influence and trips.

In May, the case was settled among the parties, but the terms were not disclosed.
