Aaliyah Haughton’s Life and Legacy to be Examined in ABC News’ ‘Superstar’ Special
The life and legacy of Aaliyah Haughton is set to be honored with a new ABC News special titled Superstar: Aaliyah.
The hour-long prime-time special will take an in-depth look at her life journey, her illegal marriage to R. Kelly, who has since been convicted as a sex offender, and her undeniable impact with exclusive interviews with those who knew the r&b singer and songwriter best. Guest speakers will include former boyfriend and legendary hip hop figures Damon Dash, her uncle and manager Barry Hankerson, and industry veteran and producer Jimmy Douglass.
The special will also feature interviews with artists across the music industry who have cited the “One in a Million” singer as their career inspiration.
Fashion designers Karl Kani will discuss what it was like styling the actress, and designer-stylist Aleali May will share her experience working with Aaliyah, whom she describes as her “enduring sartorial muse.”
Superstar: Aaliyah is set to premiere on Wednesday, June 14, at 10 pm ET. Episodes will be available on Hulu the day after their premiere.
