Roberta Flack Preps Beatles Cover Album

The music great will release her first album in 8 years.

Roberta Flack, the legendary soul singer behind such classics as "Killing Me Softly With His Song" and "The First Time I Saw Your Face," will soon release her first album in more than eight years. A collection of Beatles covers, the still-untitled album is being released by 429 Records/Sony ATV Music Publishing along with Flack's own RAS Records.
"My passion for the project comes from the magical genius of the greatest songwriters of all time," said Flack in a statement. "Love, inspiration, friendship and my own life's lessons come together when I sing the songs they created."
The four-time Grammy winner was last seen performing a duet of "Where Is The Love," her 1972 hit with Donny Hathaway, alongside Maxwell at the 2010 Grammys. The first single from her new album, "We Can Work It Out," was released today on iTunes. The project is expected in early February 2012 and will be supported by a tour.
