Drake Surprises Hospitalized 14-Year-Old Fan With Special Birthday Message
Drake recently surprised one of his fans, Zelek Murray, with a special, personalized message for his 14th birthday.
According to The Shade Room, Murray was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer.
Drake shared that he was moved after learning of the teenager's health battle from fellow Canadian poet and singer-songwriter Mustafa the Poet, and the two men wanted to send him some encouraging words of solace to help get him through his hospital stay.
“I can't imagine how tough you have to be, and Mustafa let me know how you’re a fan of mine,” the Toronto-born rapper said. "Well, I'm a fan of you. I'm a fan of people with heart, and I can tell that you have a lot of heart. I just wanna tell you, stay strong, I love you, and I appreciate you.”
Murray’s reaction was priceless. The teenager’s mouth dropped open in surprise before a smile broke out on his face when the video played. His mother, Temeka, shared a video of the moment on Instagram where she penned an emotional post to express her sincerest appreciation for the kind gesture. Her post was reshared by The Shade Room.
“THANK U @champagnepapi THANK YOU @mustafathepoet ..... You don’t even know how much this [meant] for US but most importantly ‘HIM,’” she penned in the caption. “His strength is like no other and yes he has his good days and bad days, BUT THIS is exactly what he needed to lift up his Spirit.. to never give up...Because you took time out of your day to put a smile on a 14yr old boys face....WE ARE FOREVER THANKFUL.”His mother later spoke to The Shade Room about the heartwarming moment.
“This was so heartfelt and touching because Drake took the time out to give my son words of encouragement and light during a time that’s been very dark for me and my family,” she said. “The birthday has touched him in ways I’ll never be able to put into words.”
