The kids are all grown up.

Actress Yara Shahidi made a bittersweet announcement this week in a Youtube video sharing that after six seasons, the Kenya Barris-created sitcom and black-ish spinoff was ending.

"Hey, Grown-ish fam, it's Yara, and I wanted to share the news with you guys, our day ones, that season 6 of Grown-ish will be our final season," the real-life Harvard graduate revealed. The 23-year-old Hollywood star told supporters, "But don't be sad,” and quickly assured  viewers, “we're going to do it up big."

Shahidi also revealed that the final season of grown-ish will be presented in two parts, with the first half premiering this summer. “The second half will be coming in 2024, which means you still have a full year with the crew at Cal U,” the actress continued.

The series will also be hitting a significant milestone as the cast, which includes Trevor Jackson, Diggy Simmons, and Daniella Perkins, is set to celebrate its one-hundredth episode. They are also welcoming several special guests, including Lil Yachty, Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals.

Shahidi, who portrayed Zoey on the flagship series black-ish, also took the time out to speak directly to  fans who’ve been watching the show since it premiered on Freeform on January 3, 2018, stating, "You guys have been with us since season 1, and it has been such an honor to play Zoey and grow up alongside her for the past nine years."

She continued, "Your support over the last five seasons has really meant the world to us, the cast and crew, and we wanna take the time to thank you all for the love and support that has kept us going." She added, "And like I said, there's still another season to go, and trust me, it's gonna be big."

Grown-ish followed the fashion-obsessed teen and the eldest daughter of the Johnson family as she took her first steps into the real world as a college freshman. The show covered a series of real-life issues, including race, drugs, sex, and much more. During season five, Zoey’s younger brother Junior, portrayed by actor Marcus Scribner, took the lead role after Zoey graduated, although she still appeared in the series.

There’s still time to catch up before the show’s premiere, as the first five seasons are streaming on Hulu.
