Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Officially Changes Their Group Name
When Bone Thugs-N-Harmony rolls out on tour with Three 6 Mafia this year, it might be under a new name.
For the first time ever in the legendary Cleveland-founded rap group’s history, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony is undergoing a name change.
As part of a new partnership with Buffalo Wild Wings, the melodic rap stars have decided to change their group name to Boneless Thugs-N-Harmony to promote the sports bar franchise’s boneless chicken wings.
Buffalo Wild Wings filmed a nearly 2-minute long promotional spoof of a mock disagreement between the group members over the name reveal. In the video, Krayzie Bone, Flesh-N-Bone and Wish Bone all unanimously agree to change their name to “Boneless” rather than “Bone.” Layzie Bone, however, found the thought of the group’s name change “preposterous.” While he admits Buffalo Wild Wings “are actually pretty good,” he didn’t think they were “change-your-name good.”
However, the odds are not stacked in Layzie’s favor. “Bone Thugs is a group where the majority rules,” the group’s manager, Steve Lobel, told BET in a statement. “So, for now, the name change will stick.”
BTNH will also be updating their name across social platforms as part of the deal, although it’s not clear how long it will stay in effect. They are also giving away limited edition Boneless Thugs-N-Harmony merchandise via Bonelessthugs.com.
