Closed mouths don’t get fed, which is the very reason Whoopi Goldberg made her bid to be the next host of Wheel Of Fortune.

The daytime talk show host shared her hopes for the future on Tuesday’s (June 13) episode of The View. The following day after the longstanding host– Pat Sajak– announced his retirement on Twitter from the syndicated game show after 41 seasons, the lightbulb went off for Goldberg by aligning herself as a candidate for the gig, PEOPLE reports.

Although Sajak will continue as host throughout the next season of Wheel of Fortune –which premieres in September– Goldberg is setting her eyes on the prize now. During a discussion on Tuesday’s episode of the daily round table show, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin mentioned, “Another legendary game show host, Pat Sajak, just announced that he's going to be retiring from Wheel of Fortune at the end of next season."

Then she directed a follow up by asking Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings, "What's your reaction to the news? And any ideas on who should replace him?"

Without hesitation, Goldberg hopped into the mix, declaring her utmost desire for the job. “I want that job! I think it'd be lots of fun."

In full support of Goldberg, Joy Behar teased she could also join her in another facet, as the letter turner for Vanna White so she and Sara Haines could take “turns walking back and forth, pointing to the letters."

For Goldberg though, she has been a dominating force in Hollywood since she first stepped onto the scene over 40 years ago. She has also garnered game show experience in the past from 1998-2004 when she appeared as the center square in Hollywood Squares in which celebrity panelists included Vivica A. Fox and George Wallace.

Before joining The View in 2007, she starred in blockbuster films The Color Purple, Ghost, and Sister Act and currently stars on Harlem alongside Meagan Good and Tyler Lepley. Goldberg made history in 2002 when she reached EGOT status by winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony over her extensive career.

If her wishes come true, the film and television star would become the first Black woman to host the show.
