Swizz Beatz Says ‘Verzuz’ Will Still Be Free On Instagram Amid Subscription Talks
Verzuz is back Tuesday night (Feb. 15) with a Valentine’s Day special featuring Anthony Hamilton and Musiq Soulchild but the upcoming show drew major concerns when fans noticed that a subscription would be needed to tune in.
An Instagram post on the Verzuz official account shared that the upcoming event wouldn’t be available on IG and that viewers wanting to tune in would have to sign-up for a 14-day free trial of the new #TrillerVerzPass subscription.
“A night of amazing artists, music, and vibes!! We’re SOLD OUT for in-person tickets, but you’ll be able to watch on VERZUZTV.COM or in the @triller app!!,” Verzuz captioned the post.
While Black Twitter was visibly upset and disappointed about the news, part-owner of Verzuz, Swizz Beatz attempted to clarify the confusion that the V-Day music special would be available to stream on IG.
“See y’all rite here tonight on insta @verzuztv 😂⚡️ Who y’all rocking with @anthonyhamiltonofficial or @musiqsoulchild ?” he captioned his post. “I was out the country don’t ask me who did it 😂 it’s fixed 🤷🏽♂️ bless up 🙏🏽 love y’all ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️”
The sold-out R&B songfest will be the first Verzuz of 2022 and take place at the Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles.
Last year, Verzuz brought several entertaining artists to the stage including Bone Thugs-N-Harmony v. Three 6 Mafia, Chaka Khan v. Stephanie Mills, Big Daddy Kane v. KRS-One, Fat Joe v. Ja Rule, The Lox v. Dipset and more.
Tune into tonight’s show at 5:30 PM PT/8:30 PM ET, viewers can head to Instagram Live, the official Verzuz website, or the Triller app.
