Report: Judge to Dismiss Domestic Violence Charges Against Ray Rice

Ex-Baltimore Ravens running back completed his pre-trial intervention program.

Ray Rice is close to having a clean slate.

According to ESPN, a New Jersey judge will drop domestic violence charges against the ex-Baltimore Ravens running back Thursday since he has completed his pre-trial intervention program.

"I was just presented with a dismissal order from prosecutor [James] McClain — which means that Ray Rice has successfully completed all of his terms and conditions of his PTI — therefore based on the prosecutors recommendation I will be signing Mr. Rice's dismissal of his case today," judge Michael Donio told ABCNews.com in an email Thursday, as reported by ESPN.

The dismissal means the arrest will remain on Rice's record, but there will be no conviction. He was required to attend the intervention program for a minimum of a year.

Now, it remains to be seen whether the embattled running back will get another shot at playing in the NFL. After leaked footage of him knocking out his now-wife Janay Rice on a hotel elevator surfaced last September, Rice was cut by the Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the NFL. Though Rice won his appeal and was reinstated to the league in December, not one NFL team signed him.

Rice hasn't played in the NFL since December 2013. At 28, Rice has rushed for 6,180 yards and 37 touchdowns through six seasons with the Ravens.
