J. Cole: 90 Percent Done With Born Sinner
J. Cole has big plans for Born Sinner, his sophomore album due in early 2013. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet of the 2012 American Music Awards, the Roc Nation rapper made it clear that he's looking to build on the success of his 2011 debut Cole World: The Sideline Story.
"There's a lot of promotional stuff that I want to do that I didn't get to do on the last one because the label didn't know that I was gonna come out and have the number-one album in the country," he said. "This time they know we have that type of power, so hopefully the promotion muscle is way bigger."
Cole said he plans to use that muscle to shoot a short film to accompany the album, as well as multiple music videos.
Though there's a lot he wants to accomplish with the project, Cole said actually writing and recording it was a breeze. He's 90 percent finished with the album and could wrap the last 10 percent at any time.
"It happened very naturally," he said of the creative process. "It was effortless to make this album. Very little stress."
Born Sinner is scheduled to hit stores January 28.
