Tony Parker Says Au Revoir to the NBA for Peanuts

The Spurs guard heads to France for lockout fallback.

As the NBA lockout continues to drone on, Tony Parker has made up his mind on what he’s going to do.

Fox Sports reports the San Antonio player tweeted on Wednesday, "Going to play in France !!! Let's go ASVEL !!!" Parker played pro in France before being drafted in 2001.

Parker told the French sports paper L'Equipe, "I'll be playing nearly for free.... If I play the entire season, we'll go for the title." In 2009, Parker bought a 20 percent stake of ASVEL and sits as the VP of basketball operations for the club.

The San Antonio Express-News reports that Parker will make $1,995 per month and the contract has a clause that allows Parker to return to the NBA if the lockout ends. The 29-year-old's first game with the French team is expected to be Oct. 14, 2011.
