Sounwave’s Instagram Post Stokes Excitement for New Kendrick Lamar Music
It has been almost five years since Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. made fans jump up and out of their seats. And now, after the Pulitzer Award-winning reminded people of his legacy during last November’s Day N Vegas festival, KDot’s long-time producer stoked hype behind his last TDE release.
Sounwave — the beatmaker behind such classics as “B*tch, Don’t Kill My Vibe,” “King Kunta,” and “A.D.H.D.” — made a return to social media over the weekend (Jan. 1) and in his post, made people believe that he was talking about the Compton rapper.
“Took a full year off to get realigned with what I love to do,” he wrote on Instagram. The photo, which you can see above, found Sounwave showing off his laptop and production equipment surrounded by peaceful wilderness.
New Creations On The Way
With many fans hoping this means that songs will be on Kendrick Lamar’s as-yet-to-be revealed album, Sounwave didn’t confirm what “new creations” he was actually talking about. However, his fellow cabal of producers such as Kenny Beats, BADBADNOTGOOD, Boi-1da, and Terrace Martin, all commented to share their excitement. Which, ideally, is palpable being that Lamar’s forthcoming album will be his last release under Top Dawg Entertainment.
“As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years,” Lamar wrote via his oklama.com website last August. “There’s beauty in completion. And always faith in the unknown.” Whatever the method behind the madness, all signs certainly point to a new album in 2022. The now-34-year-old is next slated to perform at the Super Bowl LVI halftime show alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige on Feb. 13, which is as good a stage as any to drop a highly anticipated record.

The moves are coming fast and furious from the Grammy Award-winning artist as Lamar even registered over 30 new songs with ASCAP last September, copyrighting unheard tracks such as “Blow Ya Mind,” “Hood Love,” and “Driving Down the Darkness.”
With the Hub City champion recently changing his profile picture on Spotify and hiring the same manager as Nas to oversee the next phase of his career, Sounwave may be onto something as pgLang and Lamar plan their next decade of dominance.
