It’s like Christmas, in July.

While the rest of rap has been preoccupied with beef, Kendrick Lamar has another prolific visual for us to decipher and devour. Lamar released the “For Free? (Interlude)” video this afternoon, and it stimulates on mental and ocular levels.

He brings the To Pimp a Butterfly’s spoken-word piece to life by chasing his leading lady (with a full band in tow) through what looks like a New Orleans-style mansion, as he schools her on why “this d**k ain’t free.” 

The video is ripe with visual metaphors that enhance the lyrical context, and Uncle Sam pops up towards the end.
