Ricki Lake Seeking Daytime TV Comeback

Former talk show host Ricki Lake in talks with CBS, NBC, Twentieth for new show.

A 1990s staple of the world of daytime television may soon be getting new life this decade.

Broadcasting and Cable reports that former talk show host and actress, Ricki Lake, is in contention for a new talk show.

During an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show in which the talk show queen reunited her main competitors, Lake told Oprah that she was interested in returning to daytime.

According to B&C, Twentieth, CBS along with NBC have all expressed interest in distributing Ricki’s return to daytime.

The show would launch in 2012, only no syndicate has made a formal commitment until Katie Couric decides whether or not she will shop a potential talk show.

Couric’s contract with CBS News – worth $15 million annually – expires in June.

With third place ratings in her network news timeslot, executives are believed to be uncertain as to whether continue keeping Couric at her current price tag.
