Doja Cat Cancels The Weeknd’s Tour, Festival Concerts Due To Tonsil Surgery
Doja Cat announced on May 20 that she has pulled out of upcoming performances due to tonsil surgery.
“Unfortunately I have to have surgery on my tonsils ASAP. The surgery is routine but the recovery is going to take awhile due to swelling. That means I have to cancel my festival run this summer as well as The Weeknd tour. I feel horrible about this but can’t wait for this to heal and get back to making music and create an experience for y’all,” she tweeted.
The Weeknd’s tour runs from July to September, according to Variety. The Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and performer was also scheduled to perform on May 21 at the Hangout Festival in Alabama and the U.K.’s Glastonbury Festival in June.
One day before the disappointing announcement, Doja Cat hinted about the problem. The artist told her Twitter followers that she had a tonsil infection and was taking antibiotics, which got aggravated after drinking wine and vaping all day. Consequently, the infection turned into a “nasty” growth on her tonsils that needed surgery.
