Snoop Dogg Addresses Crypto Ball Controversy, Says He’s ‘Still a Black Man’

“Y'all can't hate enough on me,” the rapper said just over a week after his controversial performance ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Snoop Dogg has officially responded after catching heat for his Crypto Ball performance during presidential inauguration festivities on January 17.

Over the weekend, the West Coast rap icon took to Instagram Live, where he recorded himself jamming to old-school soul in a parked car and telling his followers not to be concerned about his decisions. During the aforementioned event in Washington, D.C., attendees celebrated the crypto industry. At the same time, “Make Bitcoin Great Again” hats were passed among guests, but controversially, many also recognized Donald Trump’s return to office. Rick Ross and Soulja Boy also performed during the occasion, while Nelly provided entertainment at the inauguration ball.

“It's Sunday man, I got gospel in my heart. For all that hate, I'm going to answer with love. Y'all can't hate enough on me. I love too much," Snoop said on IG Live. "Get your life right, stop worrying about mine. I'm cool; I'm together. Still a Black man, still 100 percent Black.”

“I ain’t going nowhere, cuh. I’m right here,” he said elsewhere in the IG Live. “We gotta learn to pick each other up instead of pulling each other down. That’s what we’re great at as Black people–we’re great at tearing each other down. You could be up one minute and they’ll try to pull you down the next.”

“But I’m a strong Black man. I’m cut from a different cloth. You can’t tear me down. I’m one of God’s children,” he concluded.

Although Snoop largely criticized Trump during his first presidential term, the rapper has since changed his tune out of support for Death Row Records co-founder and former CEO Michael 'Harry-O' Harris, who was pardoned by the twice-impeached president in 2021. Three years after thanking Trump for pardoning Harris, last year, Snoop told London's “Sunday Times” that he has "nothing but love and respect" for Trump. "He ain’t done nothing wrong to me. He has done only great things for me. He pardoned Michael Harris," Snoop told the publication about his thoughts on Trump.
