As an established TV personality Aisha Tyler, co-host of daytime show The Talk, decided with her husband that it was the right time to start a family. But instead, Tyler has been experiencing fertility struggles, something she tearfully described on her show Tuesday.
"After 40, your chances of getting pregnant are 2 to 8 percent. And in my particular case, they were less than 5 percent," the 42-year-old said.
Married and co-habitating African-American women aged 15-44 have the highest infertility rates across race at 7.2 percent. This compares to 5.5 percent of whites, 5.6 percent of Asians, 6.1 percent of Latinas, according to the CDC.

Tyler said she went through treatments but they haven't been successful. "We went through the process. There's all these shots. They make your body crazy. They make you emotional. They hurt." Tyler's doctor had a real talk with her and her husband and recommended that she stop the procedures, which are costly. 
Tyler said that her doctor told her, "You really need to think about whether you want to spend all this money and go through all this emotional effort and probably still not get pregnant."
