Report: Adrian Peterson Skips Vikings' Offseason Workout Program
So much for Adrian Peterson's meeting with the Minnesota Vikings last month.
NFL sources told ESPN that the star running back didn't attend the start of the Vikings' off-season workout program Monday. But that could change in a few months, as Peterson's $250,000 workout bonus is connected to his participation in OTAs (organized team activities) and the squad's mandatory minicamp from June 16 through 18. Peterson's bonus is not tied to him attending these current optional workouts.
Still, one has to wonder if Peterson will show up at all for anything associated with the Vikings. After being involved in a child-abuse scandal last fall, the NFL suspended Peterson for the remaining 15 games of the 2014 season and he was reportedly irked that the Vikings worked with the league to place him on the commissioner's exempt list.
In February, Peterson reportedly told the Vikings that he wants to be traded to the Dallas Cowboys to play for them during the 2015 season. There were also reports about the Arizona Cardinals engaged in trade talks with the Vikings for Peterson.
Last week, the NFL reinstated Peterson, making his league status active once again.
