Big K.R.I.T. Takes on 'Mt. Olympus'
If naming his new track "Mt. Olympus" is symbolic of a lyrical feat, than Big K.R.I.T. just easily climbed his way to the top.
K.R.I.T.'s latest offering, which he also produced, is the official first single off his upcoming album, Cadillactica. Over a furious four minutes, the 27-year-old chastises the multiple personalities of rap culture, letting some of his frustrations seep through freely over the beat.
He kicks things off with the chorus, "Now they wanna hear a country n---- rap, five albums in I swear a country n---- snap/Thought they wanted trap, thought they wanted bass, thought they wanted Molly/Thought they wanted Dre/Fuck them n----s!"
Big Sean and Kendrick Lamar's omnipresent "Control" verse gets some shots too. "That Control beat is like an ugly b---- that everybody done f---ed raw/Maybe you hit it," spits the Mississippi born rhymer. Next, he responds to being name checked in Lamar's now infamous verse, calling the attempt at rap beef "propaganda."
Between "Mt. Olympus" and the string of releases during his #WeekofKRIT promotion, it's clear that K.R.I.T. has a lot more to say since last year's King Remembered in Time LP.
Cadillactica is due this fall.
