Kerry Washington’s Daughter Played a Surprising Part in OPI Collection
We still have a bit to wait until Kerry Washington’s OPI nail polish collection hits stores, but trust us, it will be totally worth it. The Scandal star dished with WWD about what to expect from the forthcoming line and revealed the very sweet muse in her creative process.
First off, she told the magazine that while there are some winks and nudges to her on-screen persona, Olivia Pope, and Washington, D.C., as a whole, this is a collection reflecting her personal tastes. (Sorry, Gladiators.) But her 2-year-old daughter, Isabelle, played a part, too.

The actress named the shade Inside the IsabelletWay (a caramel crème) after her. “I thought long and hard about having my daughter involved, but once I came up with the name, I couldn’t get it out of my head,” said Washington, who is notoriously private about her off-screen life.
The 15-piece collection also features the shades Kerry Blossom (a rich plum), “Liv” in the Gray (an edgy dark gray) and We the Female (a garnet hue). One of her favorites is Madam President, a bright red, she said. The nods to Washington, D.C., are fitting given Washington’s vested interest in politics, as she has worked on President Obama’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities and even addressed the Democratic National Convention in 2012.
The nail polishes retail for $10 each and the full collection hits stores August 4. Click here to read Washington's full interview with WWD, and tell us: Which shade are you most excited to rock?
