Big Boi Gives His Daughter a Record Label for Her 16th Birthday
The Atlanta rapper and awesome dad wants Jordan to build her own company.
Big Boi's Purple Ribbon All-Stars label has just given birth to Purple Kids, a new label that will focus on promoting younger artists. The catch, though, is that the label was a gift from the rapper to his daughter Jordan Patton for her 16th birthday.
"I wanted to give my child something that she can grow and build and nurture. So I gave her her own label," Big Boi said in an interview with Billboard magazine. "My daughter just turned 16 years old, and you can see it on MTV's [My Super Sweet Sixteen], where they get cars, and things that depreciate and just don't mean nothing."
The label will launch in a few weeks with 12-year old singer Gabbie Rae, a YouTube sensation already featured on The Tyra Show.
