Terry Crews and Sophie Okoneda to Star in Upcoming Series
Terry Crews will join the cast of a cop comedy pilot while Sophie Okoneda has been cast in an upcoming BBC miniseries.
The Hotel Rwanda actress will team with Toby Kebbell and Ashley Jensen for the British network’s three-part series titled The Escape Artist. Written by David Wolstencroft (Spooks) and directed by Brian Welsh, The Escape Artist is a drama revolving around Will Burton (David Tennant), a talented lawyer who specializes in getting people out of tight legal matters. After he gets an acquittal for a notorious prime suspect in a murder trial, his talent “comes back to bite him with unexpected and chilling results.” No reports on what role Okoneda will play.
In American TV news, Crews is preparing to co-star opposite Andy Samberg in an untitled comedy pilot. The single camera project will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street) and centers on a diverse group of detectives in a precinct at the edge of New York City. Crews is slated to play Terry Jeffords, the sergeant who runs the detective squad, while Samberg will play the lead detective.
Currently, Crews has a reoccurring role on the hit cable series The Newsroom and he recently wrapped Tyler Perry’s Single Mom’s Club.
