Kanye West Says ‘Exhaustion’ Was Cause Of 2016 Breakdown
The rapper formerly known as Kanye West claims "exhaustion" triggered his mental breakdown in 2016, not a mental illness.
During an interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored, posted on Friday (October 21), Ye was asked whether he suffered from any form of mental illness. He responded that a lack of sleep caused the last episode.
“I believe that I suffered from exhaustion. I suffered from being lied to constantly by the people around me, by my management, by my ex-wife, and I believe those things can drive anyone to a point of maximum exhaustion,” he said in reference to his hospitalization for a psychiatric emergency. “But I also believe that I’m extremely brilliant, and I’m here to make the world a better place. And I’m tired of the left media trying to pick on me.”
Ye, diagnosed with bipolar disorder after his hospitalization, claims his mental health history is being used to discredit him.
“When I bring up the truth, they’re gonna say you didn’t get enough sleep. It’s because of your health,” he said.
Additionally, things got bizarre when he spoke about money and influence.
“I am the Black person with the Black experience that’s worth $11 billion and is the most influential person on the planet, and I am questioning it,” Ye said in the clip. It isn’t clear what Morgan had asked him, but when the host jumped in to later guide the conversation, he began singing, “La la la la — let me finish.”
