5 Things To Know About Quinnen And Quincy Williams, The Faith In Action Award Recepients

The NFL star brothers took home the accolade and shared a righteous speech honoring God and their late mother.

At Saturday's (Feb. 1) 21st Super Bowl Gospel Celebration, brother Quincy (Jacksonville Jaguars) and Quinnen (New York Jets) were honored with the 2020 Faith In Action award.

Taking the stage for the well-deserved accolade, the brothers started off their speech thanking God and the American Cancer Society. The brothers also saluted their grandmother and father while Quinnen was sure to thank the Young Money family for their support as well.  In addition to being outstanding athletes on the field, the Williams brothers are also American Cancer Society ambassadors, which they pointed out in honor of their late mother for the speech.

As we reflect on their exceptional work as two of the youngest exemplars of their football communities, here five facts to know about the Faith In Action recipients: 

  1. They grew up in the church prior to their football fame

    Thanks to their family, the brothers have a longstanding relationship with the Lord. Quinnen and Quincy grew up in a church family and attended service regularly.

  2. They lost their mother, Marquischa Henderson Williams, to breast cancer in 2010

    The loss of their mother inspired their decision to become more knowledgeable about the types of breast cancer and involved with informing underserved Black communities of the disease. 

  3. They have two younger siblings who they encourage to pursue sports and/or school

    As the two oldest brothers, they push their younger siblings to excel in their respective passions.

  5. Both brothers played college football and earned spots in the 2019 NFL Draft

    Quincy attended Murray State University while Quinnen started his college football career at the University of Alabama. The brothers went on to sign pro contracts with the NFL on two separate teams. 

  6. They are American Cancer Society ambassadors

    The brothers were sure to champion the American Cancer Society for arming them with resources to serve communities through their advocacy. Quincy informed everyone on how to get their proper screening and specifically encouraged women of color to pursue this in honor of their late mother.
