Soul Train Awards 2022: Three Songs You’ll Be Shocked To Know Tank Wrote
Durrell Babbs, better known as r&b singer and songwriter Tank, is a veteran in the business with more credit than any accolade could justify. Aside from writing some of our favorite bedroom favorites, he’s penned some smash hits for his industry peers.
Ahead of this year’s Soul Train Awards 2022, hosted by comedian Deon Cole, where Tank is also in the running for ‘Best R&B/Soul Male Aritst,’ ’ check out some of these classic records written by Tank.
Marques Houston — “Naked”
Tank co-wrote this smash 2005 r&b track for Marques Houston from the crooner’s second studio album of the same name, Naked. The track was the biggest hit single from the project, peaking at number eight on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
Monica — ‘Sideline Ho’
Tank teams up with frequent collaborators Eric Dawkins, Antonio Dixon, Harvey Mason, and more for this number from Monica’s fourth studio album, The Makings of Me. The mid-tempo ballad finds the singer addressing the mistress, hence the track title “Sideline Ho,”
Omarion — “O”
The veteran musician penned this 2004 banger alongside Harvey Mason, Jr., Eric Dawkins, and more for Omarion’s debut studio album ‘O.’ The song marked Omarion's first hit as a solo artist, peaking at number 27 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
