UNCF Announces Scholarships to Honor Michael Jackson, Ray Charles
The United Negro College Fund has announced two new scholarships for brilliant minds seeking higher education. In honor of Michael Jackson and Ray Charles, the organization will be offering a total of $9,500 to deserving students.

To qualify for the Michael Jackson Scholarship, which is worth $5,000, applicants must be a high school senior looking to major in communication arts or social science in a UNCF institution. They must also have a grade point average between 3.0 and 4.0 and submit an essay along with their transcript and applications.
For its Ray Charles Endowed Scholarship, UNCF and the Ray Charles Foundation teamed up to offer a college junior a $4,500 grant to go towards their studies. Applications must be in great academic standing — only those with at least a 3.0 average need apply — as well as be an African-American student enrolled in a UNCF college or university. Student must also prove that they’re in need of the grant.
