Drake, Nicki Minaj and Other Celebs Visit Lil Wayne in Hospital
Lil Wayne's hospital room was more star-packed than the Grammy Awards.
Drake, Birdman, Nicki Minaj and several other celebs paid a visit to the ailing superstar over the weekend. Weezy was hospitalized on Friday amid conflicting reports about his health, with one gossip site saying he was in a medically-induced coma while close friends and representatives from his label Young Money Records clarifying that he was alert and responsive.
Insiders did, however, confirm that the rapper did suffer another seizure on Friday after a series of seizures earlier in the week. Sources claim the seizures were brought on by an overdose of Sizzurp, the dangerous concoction of cough medicine and soda that gets frequent reference in many of Wayne's tracks, though that assumption has not been confirmed by doctors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where the 30-year-old is being treated.
Apart from Weezy's label mate Minaj and frequent collaborator Drake, Los Angeles Clippers star Chris Paul and R&B singer Usher also came to visit. The scene was an emotional one for friends of the rapper, whose history with substance abuse is well-documented. Minaj, one of Wayne's oldest friends in the business, "broke down" when she saw him, according to HollywoodLife.com.
"She cried because she didn’t want to see him in the hospital with s--t in his arms and doctors around," a source says. "But all in all, she had a good visit with him and Wayne seems cool."
Twitter has been ablaze since news of Wayne's hospitalization broke on Friday afternoon, with stars and fans alike tweeting for information and sending their well-wishes for the rapper's speedy recovery. Weezy put fans at ease when a message from his own Twitter account confirmed, "I'm good everybody. Thx for the prayers and love."
While no official details has been released from doctors about Lil Wayne's condition, for now it seems the Young Money boss is stable, resting and surrounded by loved ones.
