After Labor Day, though, it's undisputed.

In fourth-round action of the U.S. Open on Monday, Serena blasted Yaroslava Shvedova, 6-2, 6-3, to record her 308th Grand Slam win, moving past Roger Federer for the most Grand Slam match victories in tennis history — for both men and women.

GOAT status certified. But we already knew she was the greatest tennis player on the planet.

Williams can add to her legend by winning the U.S. Open to surpass Steffi Graf's 22 Grand Slam titles and pull within one of Margaret Court's 24 for the most major championships in women's singles tennis history.

The next step in that journey will be facing Simona Halep in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open on Wednesday.

And witnessing greatness continues.
