Now Six Patriots Are Boycotting the Trump White House Visit and Many Fans Are Supporting Their Decision
And the list keeps growing.
A total of six New England Patriots will now skip visiting Donald Trump's White House to be honored for winning Super Bowl LI — and that news is making a lot of NFL fans and beyond very happy.
On the same Sunday night that New England defeated the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI in Houston, Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett announced that he would not visit Trump in the White House whenever the team makes the trip. The next day, on Monday, Pats safety Devin McCourty shut down the prospect too, reasoning, "I don't feel accepted in the White House" and "with the president having so many strong opinions and prejudices, I believe certain people might feel accepted there while others won't."
He was right about the latter, as Patriots linebacker Dont'a Hightower, running back LeGarrette Blount, defensive tackle Alan Branch and defensive end Chris Long all announced that they are following suit and also skipping the Trump White House visit.
Long's refusal to visit Trump's White House is significant, considering he's the first white Patriots player to decline. That and Long seemingly answered the call from a New York Daily News open letter imploring him to take a stand against Trump while pointing out the "pathetic white sea of NFL white silence this year."
Many fans are for these six Patriots shutting down a visit to the White House under Trump while holding more of the team's players' feet to the fire to follow suit.
Touchdown!
To us, this stand against the 45th president is bigger than winning Super Bowl LI anyway.

Hold Other Patriots Players' Feet to the fire
How about it Rob Gronkowski and Brandon Bolden?
While the current count stands at six, let's see how many more players follow suit, even if noted Trump friends Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, coach Bill Belichick and owner Bob Kraft do attend the White House visit.
As divisive as Trump continues to be, will a fully intact championship team ever visit the White House?
