Billy Porter Joins Audra McDonald for Broadway Revival Shuffle Along
Exciting news for Broadway fans! History-making performer Audra McDonald will star in a revival of 1921's Shuffle Along, one of the first all-Black shows in Broadway history. McDonald will be joined by her fellow Tony winners Billy Porter (Kinky Boots) and Brian Stokes Mitchell (Kiss Me, Kate) for the production.
The revival of Shuffle Along, originally created by songwriting team Noble Sissle and Eubie Blake, will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the play and its historic place in theater. McDonald will star as 1920s headliner Lottie Gee, the star of Shuffle Along.
Savion Glover, known for his work on 1996's Bring in ‘da Noize, Bring in ‘da Funk, will choreograph the show.
Previews for Shuffle Along will begin March 14, 2016, at the Music Box Theater in New York City, with opening night slated for April 21.
