The final press conference before Saturday’s mega welterweight title fight was relatively calm by Floyd Mayweather’s standards.

Mayweather was downright kind to Victor Ortiz at times, calling the youngster a great fighter. But then again Floyd was Floyd as he discussed how he will transform from a usually defensive fighter to being on the outright attack against Ortiz.

“Saturday night I'm going to put you on your ass,” Mayweather told Ortiz, “America wants to see change, and change will come soon.”

But the change many in America and across the world really want to see is the aging bad boy of boxing finally get his. Mayweather, 34, comes into this fight 41-0 with 25 knockouts, but he’s been inactive since defeating Shane Mosley in May 2010.

Ortiz, meanwhile, is 10 years Mayweather’s junior and comes into this fight on a major upswing having defeated previously unbeaten Andre Berto in April. It is Ortiz’s (29-2, 22 KO’s) WBC welterweight belt that will be on the line Saturday night.

As usual, Mayweather believes he will emerge on top, and just to make certain he is pulling out all the stops to stay in Ortiz’s head.

“It's kill or be killed,” Mayweather said with a smile.
