Interview: Usher Says New Music Is On The Way After Announcing His 2023 Las Vegas Residency Dates
Watch this! Usher recently announced that he is extending his Las Vegas Residency into 2023 and now he’s telling BET.com why you should come to the historic show.
In case you missed it, the eight-time Grammy award-winning artist shared that 25 new dates for his My Way the Vegas Residency would kick off on March 3, 2023, and run through July 15, 2023, after selling out all of his upcoming shows for 2022.
"It's back by popular demand," Usher shared with BET.com. "I think that the whole purpose and point was to come here and do something that people would love and celebrate. So to ask for more and then give it to them, it makes me feel good that they want it!"
"Judging from the experience that we've had so far the last residency, [the current one] and now the idea of the next one just makes it more exciting. I'm in the process of launching a new album. So that gives me an opportunity to maybe have some special moments happen during the [new] shows. I'm just really happy to be able to have this platform to just experiment, be creative, and do the things that I've always wanted to do want to try things that I've always wanted to try."
The epic event takes place at Dolby Live at Park MGM and is filled with a carefully curated music selection of all of Usher’s top hits from “My Way,” “My Boo,” “U Remind Me,” “You Make Me Wanna…,” Love in This Club,” and more.
And when it comes to his loyal fan base he has a few special words for those who have been holding it down since day 1.
"We ain't done yet," he says. "Thank you for holding me down and for that I will continue to hold you down. As you come to the show, you will understand what I mean."
"When I say I work hard, from the moment I come out on that stage to me closing my eyes at the end of the night. I really do want you to know that I prepared something for you that's special, that celebrates the history of my music but also to celebrate that connection that some of us made 25 years ago. We're still growing and we ain't done. There's still more to this story.
Pre-sale tickets are currently available with public ticket sales for 2023 shows available for purchase starting on Friday (Aug. 26) at 1 p.n. ET. Usher, Live Nation Las Vegas and MGM Resorts are donating $1 from every ticket purchased for the 2023 residency dates to Usher’s charitable program New Look Inc.
