Drake Taps The Weeknd for European Tour

Rapper invites fellow Canadian on his Would You Like a Tour?

Drake and The Weeknd have collaborated in the studio, and now the Toronto natives are set to invade Europe together. October's Very Own tapped his fellow Canadian for the European leg of Would You Like a Tour?, kicking off March 1 in Stockholm, Sweden.

The international jaunt will hit the likes of Belgium, Norway and Scotland over 11-dates and wrap up with back-to-back shows at London’s O2 Arena March 24 and 25.

Drake launched Would You Like a Tour?, featuring Miguel and Future, in Pittsburgh last Friday (Oct. 18) and rolled into Brooklyn's Barclay's Arena Monday (Oct. 28) night. "It's great to touch back down," Drake told Revolt TV after the show. "Of all buildings, to do it in here [Barclay's], it's crazy.”

No matter how surreal, playing to a New York City crowd is no easy feat for the YMCMB star. “You gotta fight to get New York. You either have them or you don't," he said. "That goes for anybody, even guys that are from here. You get on that stage you got like [a] 10- to 15-minute window to like win," he said. "If you win in that 10 to 15 and you keep it going consistently, you're gonna have a great show."

During his set, Drake debuted "Trophies," a Hit Boy-produced record originally meant for Nothing Was the Same. "I wouldn’t even call it a leftover. It was definitely on the album," he clarified, explaining that the track was pulled because it wasn’t finished. "I'm not a just throw it together kind of guy and I had two different hooks on there. I didn't like either of them. As great of a job as other people did, it didn't sound right if I wasn’t on the hook. I always wanna do my own hooks for the sake of my performances."

Being on the road also has the "All Me" rhymer itching to create again. "I hate sitting idle. Being on tour is great, but I've been asking when's the studio bus coming? I really only caught the real momentum in the last three weeks of Nothing Was the Same," he pointed out. "I'm ready to go again."

That doesn't mean an album is in the works, he said, but expect a full-length version of "Trophies" and other new music, including a record for the posthumous Aaliyah album that's been hanging in the balance, a collaboration with Y.G. and the "Wu-Tang Forever" remix.
