Chris Brown Talks Kendrick Lamar Collaboration
Chris Brown is pulling out all the stops for his upcoming album, X. In a recent interview with MTV News, he said he’s looking to surprise people with some of the records, like his collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, titled “Autumn Leaves.”
“I think people automatically assumed [that] with me and Kendrick Lamar, if we actually collaborated, it's gonna be a club joint,” Breezy said.
Instead, the two went in an unexpected direction.
“Me and Kendrick on ‘Autumn Leaves,’ it’s more of a sit in your car and ride-to record. It’s a real laid-back record, but it's also a substance record," he revealed.
Explaining the metaphor in the title, he said, "It's basically saying [that] you put in so much to get so little. Whether it be in relationships or just in life, you work hard for something all the time and get so little, but you still hold on, like the last leaf in autumn."
"It’s a dope metaphor," Breezy continued. "Me and him are gonna make magic with that. He’s just a lyrical poet. He’s killing everybody right now so I was like, ‘Let’s do it.’"
Brown's praise of the Compton MC is not misguided. K.Dot's been knocking out features left and right, or, as he put it on his “B----Don’t Kill My Vibe” remix with Jay-Z, he’s dealing with this industry hard, and “baggin’ this money.”
Catch Kendrick live for the BET Experience on Saturday, June 29, performing at the Staples Center along with Snoop Lion, ScHoolBoy Q, and Miguel.
