CNN's Don Lemon And Anderson Cooper Emotionally Slam 'Racist' Donald Trump's 'Shithole Countries' Comment About Haiti And African Nations
In a move that surprised very little of us but still infuriates us, President Donald Trump condemned immigrants from "shithole countries" coming to the United States. The racist comment was not only criticized by the public, but received special coverage from CNN's Don Lemon and Anderson Cooper.
According to CNN, a source close to the president said during an Oval Office meeting with lawmakers on Thursday, Trump asked, "Why do we want all these people from shithole countries coming here?"
In the meeting, a bipartisan immigration bill was presented to Trump by Illinois Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin and South Carolina GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham. The plan was proposed to cut the visa lottery in half and give the rest of the visa opportunities to underrepresented countries in Africa and Temporary Protective Status nations, including Haiti.
According to one source, when the country of Haiti was mentioned, Trump asked why the country wants more people from Haiti and Africa when we should have more people coming from countries like Norway.
Don Lemon, who admitted he was not surprised by the comment, delivered an address about the president's repeated racism
“This is CNN Tonight, I’m Don Lemon. The president of the United States is racist. A lot of us already knew that," Lemon said at the start of his broadcast.
Anderson Cooper, who has spent extensive time in Haiti, tearfully stood up for the resilient nation
“Let me be clear, the people of Haiti have been through more, withstood more, fought back against more injustice than our president ever has,” Cooper said. “I have never met a Haitian who isn’t strong. You have to be to survive in a place where the government has often abandoned its people. Where opportunities are few and where Mother Nature has punished the people far more than anyone should ever be punished.”
“Haitians slap your hand hard when they shake it,” Cooper said. “They look you in the eye, they do not blink. They stand tall. They have dignity. A dignity many in this White House could learn from. A dignity the president with all his money and power could learn from as well.”

Despite the obvious offense of Trump's comments, his favorite news station defended and downplayed his racist rhetoric
Fox News' Jesse Watters reduced the comment to how the forgotten people in middle America talk at the bar.
Whereas Tucker Carlson went as far as to ask what is so wrong with saying some places are worse than others
Although, President Trump has denied making the "shithole countries" comment, he did say his language was "tough"
