See Why This Company Just Tapped Beyoncé's Dancers for a Major Gig

The Syncopated Ladies are making major moves.

Just over a year ago, Syncopated Ladies dazzled us with their happy feet to the rhythms of Beyoncé’s “Formation.” Bey herself was certainly impressed with their powerful routine, because she shared the video of the all-female tap dancing troupe with her millions of followers and it, just like everything she touches, quickly went viral. Today, the ladies are dancing to a different tune thanks to a new collab with Cantu, whose products are a staple in every naturalista’s beauty arsenal. After being invited to perform at Essence Music Fest last summer, Cantu tapped Syncopated Ladies to showcase their coils in action in their new campaign.

“We’re excited to launch this partnership with Cantu…our hairography is part of our art. It accentuates the movement and passion. As tap dancers, our rhythms flow from our feet through our hair,” the troupe’s leader, Chloe Arnold, tells BET.com.

“My sister Maud and I grew up wearing our hair natural, and all of the Syncopated Ladies rock their natural looks, but we each have different textures, so it was wonderful to be styled by Cantu’s brilliant hair influencer Maria Antoinette, whose natural hair designs fit each of our different textures and personal styles perfectly…we actually use the products and see the results, and love the positive messaging of celebrating one’s individuality, sisterhood, and freedom of expression. It’s a great match because they celebrate all styles of natural looks, from curly, to heat styles, to braids. There are no limits to how we can express our natural look and there’s a Cantu product to protect, accentuate and make each of us glow!”

It’s not often you see brown women letting their curls, coils and kinks move freely in the rigid world of dance, so this partnership definitely deserves a round of applause. And, according to Chloe, so does the Queen Bey.

“Beyoncé changed our lives forever with her generosity, sister solidarity and empowerment. We are  incredibly touched and thankful that she felt the passion in our art enough to share it with her audience. Since that day, nothing has been the same.”
