Hip Hop Reacts To The Tragic Shooting Death Of Young Dolph
The hip hop world is mourning the passing of Young Dolph. The 36-year-old, born Adolph Robert Thornton, Jr., was reportedly shot and killed in his hometown of Memphis on Nov. 17.
TMZ reports the "RNB" rapper was shot while buying cookies at Makeda’s Butter Cookies, a bakery in a local Memphis strip mall.
Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland, posted on Twitter, “The tragic shooting death of rap artist Young Dolph serves as another reminder of the pain that violent crime brings with it.”
Strickland also added, “To honor all victims of violent crime, I ask for calm in our city to allow the Memphis Police Department to do their duty to capture those responsible.”
Dolph was known for the 2017 song "100 Shots,” 2020’s "Blue Diamond" and his latest release was "Aspen,” which featured Key Glock. His solo album, Rich Slave, debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard album chart in August of 2020.
