Travis Scott Announces New Nonprofit And Parsons School of Design Partnership
To celebrate the third annual “Travis Scott Day” in Houston, TX, Travis Scott announced his new Cactus Jack Foundation on Wednesday (Nov 18).
TMZ reports that Scott’s new organization is not only about giving back to the community, but it’s also about helping kids have better futures.
Its first order of business is the Waymon Webster Scholarship, named after his grandfather who graduated from Prairie View A&M University, a historically black college. The scholarship will be available to students enrolled at a “handful” of HBCUs that include Morehouse College, Howard University, Texas Southern University, Grambling State University, and, of course, Prairie View A&M University.
Speaking to TMZ, Scott explained his reason for creating the scholarship.
"My grandfather wanted me to take it all the way through college, I feel there is a power in education so to be able to give someone the opportunity to fulfill that dream as my papa thought for me is amazing,” he said.
Additionally, Scott also announced that he’s partnering with The Parson’s School of Design to create a Cactus Jack program for Houston. According to TMZ, it will “offer an online certification program to students around the country through scholarships.”
