A Texas teenager faces up to a year in prison for allegedly using a sex tape to blackmail a teenage girl into have sex with 15-year-olds.

Demario Hunter, 18, of Katy, Texas, is charged with blackmailing a 19-year-old woman with a recording of the two having sex, reported KHOU 11.

The official charge against Hunter is "unlawful disclosure of intimate visual material." It’s commonly known as the revenge porn law.

During court proceedings, prosecutors alleged Hunter had sex with the unidentified victim while recording it on a phone and  then used it to get her to have sex with three 15-year-old friends.

Then, Hunter threatened to release the tape if she didn’t have sex with his cousin; so the alleged victim called 911, according to KHOU 11.

However, Hunter’s defense attorney claimed the current charges are only on the basis of a threat.

 “He’s just charged with a threat right now,” said defense attorney Equator Turner. “A threat to send something that he didn’t send.”

According to Turner, Hunter didn’t have cellular service when he made the threat; therefore, releasing the tape would have been impossible.

“He was basically playing poker,” Turner told KHOU 11. “It was just a threat. Mr. Hunter didn’t have any means to do anything that he was threatening to do.”
