Paula Deen Restaurant at Center of Racism Scandal Shuts Down

General manager of restaurant had sued Deen last year.

The restaurant at the center of Paula Deen's crumbling empire has closed its doors, TMZ reports. Uncle Bubba's Seafood & Oyster House shut down after 10 years in business, giving no warning to longtime employees who found out the news when they showed up for work to find a padlock on the door.
Lisa Jackson, the former general manager of Uncle Bubba's, sued Deen in 2012 for sexual harassment and creating a workplace that was hostile to Black workers. In her deposition, Deen revealed she had used the N-word on multiple occasions — even though she later said she only used the slur once. As a result, Deen saw her culinary empire dissolve before her eyes in record time, starting with the cancellation of her long-running Food Network show.
The lawsuit was dismissed after lawyers reached a deal, but not before Deen's business had taken a near-fatal blow. Uncle Bubba's is the latest casualty of Deen's actions.
