Prayers Up: August Alsina Hospitalized After A Serious Health Scare
August Alsina isn’t shy about letting his fans into the more intimate side of his life and the battles that come with it.
Previously, August has been candid about his struggles toward leading a healthy lifestyle amidst battling complications from a genetic liver disease and recovering from an opioid addiction. Last fall, he shared a touching tribute to his sister after she lost her battle with cancer. While it seems the R&B singer has been doing better as of late, on Sunday (July 7) he shared a somber update on his health status.
Taking to Instagram, the 26-year-old posted a clip of himself resting on a bed in a hospital after receiving treatment. He revealed that he was hospitalized after losing feeling in his legs.
“I woke up one day and wasn’t able to walk. I couldn’t feel my legs,” the “No Love” singer recalled. “My doctor ended up admitting me into the hospital. They’re doing a bunch of tests. He said I have some nerve damage going on throughout my whole body that I have to go into a recovery process for.”
The crooner was supposed to perform at the Essence Festival on Sunday (July 7) but unfortunately could not make it to the gig due to the health scare.
Despite the sad news, August was all smiles as he assured his fans that he is doing fine, and he will be back in good shape soon. He ended his message on an affirmative note that he won’t let his genetic disease keep him from making music, promising fans he has so much in store that he can’t wait to share with them.
“My autoimmune disease is raging, but i'm fighting this thing & on my mission to shake back & be able to make it up to you! I got so much to share w/ you!!!..& Big Love to give. Big Life, Big Dreams & every peaceful thing to you! Less stress, More Love, More Rest, & Jah Bless. know that HE’s got you even when it all feels too complex,” August wrote in the caption.
