August Alsina Posts Update On His Condition After A Serious Health Scare

The R&B singer is starting a new treatment similar to chemotherapy.

R&B crooner August Alsina has been candid about his battle with health struggles, but continues to remain  in good spirits. Although the 26-year-old has generally been silent on social media after he had a serious health scare this past summer, he’s made sure to keep fans updated on how he’s been doing via inspirational affirmations.

  • Back in July, the R&B crooner alarmed fans after he published a video of himself in a hospital bed after he missed his performance at the 2019 Essence Festival. August revealed that he awoke one day to find that he had lost feeling in both of his legs following a flare-up of his autoimmune disease and learned that he had nerve damage after being admitted to the hospital.

  • Despite the somber news, August was all smiles as he assured his fans that he is doing fine and will be back in good shape soon. August is currently battling health complications due to a liver disease stemming from a hereditary autoimmune disease. He’s continued to remain positive throughout the whole ordeal and it appears his health has taken a turn for the better.

  • Taking to Instagram on Monday (Sept. 20), the “I Luv It” singer gave an update on his health status. The New Orleans-native shared that his doctors are starting him on a new treatment similar to chemotherapy that will repair the nerve damage in his body and help strengthen his immune system.

“I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t been tough on my body. But there are necessary steps in order to make progress,” he wrote in the post’s caption. “Illness is so humbling and I often find myself singing this song of affirmation to myself everyday. So, I figured I’d share that same love, affirmation and motivation with yall, whoever may need it.”
