Another NFL Player Investigated for Child Abuse
Officials looking into complaints against the defensive end Antonio Smith.
The NFL may be close to patching up the public relations damage created by Deflategate, but now it looks like there is another crack in the shield.
According to TMZ Sports, Antonio Smith is being investigated for alleged child abuse in Texas. The website is reporting that the Fort Bend County District Attorney, John Healey, has confirmed that the child abuse division is looking into Smith's case in multiple incidents stemming back to 2010. No charges have been filed thus far.
"We're trying to discern the truth from the untruthfulness of the claim to decide what charges, if any, will be filed," Healey told TMZ.
Although the case was originally reported in Colorado back in November, it was forwarded to Texas because that's where the alleged incidents took place. Smith, who currently plays for the Denver Broncos, played for the Houston Texans from 2009-2013.
