Wendy Williams' Ex-Husband Slams The Talk Show's Series Finale

- The host was noticeably absent from the final episode.

On June 17,  The Wendy Williams Show officially ended after 13 seasons in syndication. Wendy Williams, who stepped away from the show due to health issues, was not included in the series finale, and Kevin Hunter, her ex-husband and a former producer of the talk show, is not happy.

In a statement to Entertainment Tonight, Hunter said, "I feel like it is a travesty on the part of Debmar-Mercury to have such an unceremonious departure without Wendy being involved.”

He continued, "It is the first time in the history of talk shows for this to be done, especially for a show that has been on for more than 10 years. There is absolutely no reason why a bigger celebration that involved Wendy couldn't happen."

Hunter also added, "I know the blood, sweat and tears that went into making the show such a success. I am not happy with the way the show is going out on a personal level and I am truly sorry that the show's fans have to see it go down the way that it is."

Back in March, Hunter sued Debmar-Mercury for wrongfully terminating him from his long-held role as executive producer on The Wendy Williams Show. He claimed he was fired "on the basis of his marital status, which is barred by the New York City Human Rights Law."

The ongoing suit says Hunter received a notice from Debmar-Mercury founder Ira Bernstein informing him that his firing was “effective immediately.”

As one of the most successful syndicated programs for Fox and Debmar-Mercury, The Wendy Williams Show launched with a limited test run in the summer of 2008. Wendy became the first nationally syndicated hit to come out of the model that has since become a staple for the Fox stations.

Extra reports that Wendy Williams’ next move is "heading off into the world of podcasts, with iTunes."
