Jaden Smith Has Our Eyes Peeled Wide Open for His Bold 'Watch Me' Visuals
Jaden Smith is just one of those youths that has never ceased to surprise, amaze and entertain us in only the best of ways.
We’ve watched him grow out of his film star dad Will Smith’s big screen shadows in Pursuit of Happyness at only eight years old. Then we watched him pull literal killer moves for his own silver screen starring role three years later in 2010’s The Karate Kid.
Now, at the tender age of 19, he’s demanding our eyes in a completely new way with his edgy “Watch Me” visuals.
From the video’s desolate desert landscape to the return of his hazel brown locs all the way down to his leather “F**k Off!” Ja'Caius jacket, “Watch Me” flawlessly encapsulates the rock-and-roll rebellion of the 19-year-old Jaden Smith we’d better get used to.
Shot in Lancaster, California, Jaden pulls up solo on his fresh musical swag in an all-black 1967 Pontiac Firebird Convertible and Louis Vuitton boots. A few Elvis-nostalgic dance moves and wicked panoramic scenery twists does much justice to Jaden’s brazen new image, but it’s the bars he dropped off over the infectious guitar-driven instrumental that brings it all full circle.
Outspoken as we’ve come to know him as, the fashion guru discreetly wraps up flashing us a “SYRE” text stamp followed by a scroll of names, which includes his younger sister Willow Smith on it, by the way.
“You see me dancing like I'm Elvis, Just tell your man that it's all in the pelvis,” he spits in the Shomi Patwary-directed video. “Watch me, watch me, watch me, do this/Since 2012, I've been the coolest/If you do not get it, my n***a, you foolish.”
Trust us, Jaden, we get it. And we’re loving every bit of it.
